Gender-Bending, Squared
It's a common misconception by those not-in-the-know, I think, that drag queens are simply men who want to be women, and drag kings are simply women who want to be men. The non-queer community has a pretty difficult time differentiating between all those similar T-words- transgender, transsexual, transvestite. Don't even get 'em started on transfags or transdykes! So there's a tendency to believe that if 
you like dressing up and acting like the opposite sex, the only possible reason is because of deep-seated desires to become that sex.Well, cross-dressing transfolk and transfolk in drag totally put that to shame. And I decided to give them some blogspace, to combat the above silly idea (as well as because I find it wonderfully hot and deliciously subversive).
Even though FtM Dan, here in these pictures, (lifted from Photographer Richard A. Chase's journal Commentaries and Love Letters", where you can find a wonderful description of Dan, as well as his own words), is cross-dressing as part of neither a kink nor a drag routine, but instead almost as a way to revisit his past, it's still somewhat incredible to see. If you get confused at the idea of a straight crossdressing man, get ready for your head to spin at Dan- a guy who used to be a girl, dressed in girl's clothes.FtM Adrian Dalton, however, is dressing up in women's clothes for the stage, and his drag persona, the lovely, campy Miss Lola, appears below at roughly 5:49.
If you scour the Internet for MtF drag kings, you do find a few, and they all seem think they're the only ones (yes, we totally need to get them together). The most famous, perhaps, is Brooklynne M. Thomas, who performs as drag king persona U.B. Mackin and his sister persona, Pandora Paradox. But Brooklynne rocks most in my eyes for her brilliant rationale for being a transwoman drag king, "Dissection Of A MtF Drag King".
And let us not forget the wonderful Traci Klawes, who tours with the drag king troupe The Milton Kings and the Tranny Roadshow as Willie P. Fister.

No Shelter From The Storm: Transphobia Rears Its Ugly Head
I know I should be happier.There's a pregnant transman all over the news (Google 'pregnant man') and I should be jumping for joy. Yay for trans visibility! More yay for pregnant transman visibility! Mega yay for the ever-magical process known as childbirth, and the knowledge that a child will grow up in such a tolerant and loving home.
And then I go anywhere on the Internet and my smile droops, my energy drops, and I almost want to cry.
From simple statements of "freak", referrals to daddy-to-be Thomas Beatie as 'it' or, perhaps even worse, as 'she', all the way to arguments about what constitutes a man (general consensus seems to be: penis), anywhere where anyone can make a statement, they're making it. I know that these are growing pangs of a transphobic society getting exposed to novel concepts, and that there's not going to be instant acceptance, and yet I wasn't ready for the hate. I was reading some comments on some post or another and someone had written about forgetting that we queers (gender queers, sexual queers, hell, even just cultural queers) have become accustomed to living in a warm, loving, and most importantly, insulated GLBT communities where acceptance and tolerance reign supreme and our collected numbers allow us to laugh off the bashers and homo- or trans-phobes who come calling with their bigotry and Bible-thumpin'. So it's a terrible shock when something is offered to mainstream society at large- because suddenly everyone comes out of the woodwork to offer their opinion . . . and the most vehement and prevalent seem to be the hate-mongers.
And it hurts. I try to pretend that it doesn't, but God, it does. I'm not even trans, and yet I cringe, I look at what people have to say, and I know that I could never even begin to answer every negative comment, to give them thumbs down (Youtube), report them (Yahoo! Answers) or simply respond. I feel myself drowning in a sea of animosity and misunderstanding, and I am thrown into a fury at the number of people who preface each of their comments with "I totally support gays and lesbians and all that, but this . . .". People seem so anxious to scream out "That's not a man!", and I wonder why they're so scared, what plucking-the-wings-off-flies sort of person they must be when they assert over and over again "WOMAN" and use female pronouns with a mean sort of glee. The anger fades and it's simply replaced with exhaustion. I don't want to fight it, I feel like I can't, and I'm depressed because of it. The only tiny thing that manages to bring life to my spirits is watching the Youtube clip of Thomas seeing the ultrasound of his daughter- that mixture of amazement and love on his face brings me back to the real issue here, which is the beauty of giving birth to a child, and of gorgeous, miraculous transman pregnancy.
Having written that (and somewhat calmed and salved my soul), I would like to address some of the statements that I see written and the questions I hear asked. Sidestepping the obvious bigots, here's something for the other people:
* "Wow, the first pregnant man!". Sorry, everyone. I don't know who's spreading this information, but Thomas Beatie is definitely not the first pregnant transman. Transguys have been having babies for quite a while now, and I hope that in light of the media's attention on this that maybe they can drum up some families willing to step forward and show their normal lives. But even if they don't, we really need to cut with the "first pregnant man" bit. Matt Rice, partner of my fave author and sex activist Pat Califia, gave birth quite a while ago. Not too long ago, transman photographer Kael T. Block posted a gorgeous photograph of a pregnant James (who is now the proud father of a healthy, bouncing baby girl):

* "Isn't the baby going to be messed up because of the hormones?". Nope. In order to actually menstruate so they can even get pregnant, transmen must necessarily stop their male hormones. Beatie had been off of hormones for two years before getting pregnant- that baby will be just fine.
* "What about breastfeeding?". What about it? Not every mother chooses to breastfeed her baby, and *many* do so through bottled formula. People who are getting in a hussy over this at least ought to get in a hussy over other women not breastfeeding. There are simply many options for someone who chooses not to- including using formula or having another woman breastfeed the child.
* "It takes hormones and cuts its hair but still keeps the female reproductive organs? Talk about selfish!". This is the weirdest comment that I keep on seeing . . . it's as though people think that Thomas is being some kind of odd transman for still having his uterus and reproductive organs. I think this boils down to ignorance and a lack of understanding about female-to-male transsexuality and surgical options today . . . there are many transmen who have all their inner workings still intact, whether because they want it (possibly for future pregnancy, or other reasons), because it's prohibitively expensive or dangerous, or heck, simply because IT DOESN'T MATTER TO THEM. These people seem to think that if you're going to be a man, you have to give up all options relegated to females. My response: 1) "Why?", and 2) sounds like someone's jealous!
* "That's not a man.". Huh. Debatable, I suppose. I could write hundreds of thousands of words on this topic and never be finished. What makes an individual a certain gender is a highly complex question, and for almost every person's claim, I can make a powerful counterargument (if a man must have a penis, does that mean that men who have lost theirs in combat or accidents are now women? or if claim that only XY chromosomal individuals are men, you better damn well be ready to prove to me that you get a guarantee on a dude's genetic makeup before you make any gender decision about him). I only wish that instead of people simply screaming "Man!" and "Not a man!" back and forth that we could open the dialogue and start asking deep-seated questions about gender and our own prejudices. Until then, respect the law (Thomas is legally recognized as a man), and more importantly, respect his feelings. As my mother always said, if you can't say anything nice (and calling someone something that will insult and hurt them definitely ain't nice), don't say anything at all.
* "That's a woman.". All I have to say to this is: okay . . . so you'd sleep with her? I'd like to see what kind of ladies these people are hanging around, because where I come from, women do not have beards, deep voices, male names, and they do not identify as men. Beatie is a man, or, if we must get really precise, a transman. For anyone who simply refuses to call him a man because he is pregnant or for whatever reason, I challenge them to deny that he is a transman.
* "Yeah, how are they going to explain that to the kid? Actually I'm your daddy but I gave birth to you . . .". Oh, I know. And God, can you imagine those crazy single-parent families where the parent has to try to explain where the kid came from? And those divorced freaks? Oh, and man, adopted kids! (Heavy, dripping sarcasm). Families come in so many different ways, and just because it's different doesn't mean kids will have a hard time understanding it. I think it's brilliant.
* "She thinks she's a man because she grew up without a mom.". Yeah, I heard him talk about that on Oprah, too. If only people could hear from a broad spectrum of transmen- the ones who had strong feminine presences in life and still happened to be trans. Drop the discussions of "she's a confused woman" and freaking listen to what he's saying; what he's feeling. The common way to take power away from anyone is to question their mental faculties- it's happened time and time before.
* "You don't mess with what God gave you.". Hah. Which is why we never do things like repair cleft lips or other disfigurements, or administer medicine when people are sick- because that's God's will that they have such things, or die from their disease. Right? I'm not all that religious, but I can tell you that we certainly intervene all the time in what was naturally given to us. You don't get to use that argument until you're living an all-natural life.
And there's probably tons more, but I'm tired (and getting more depressed yet again browsing online for stuff to respond to). The fact of the matter is that Thomas Beatie has done something amazing- and the least of it is being a pregnant man. It is about stepping up and making his story known, and regardless of what his motives are, it's definitely shaking the world up (a great thing) and letting people know of the possibilities that are out there- of transsexuality, of living openly and bravely. Amen to that.
Congratulations, Thomas and Nancy. Let's hope the forces of love and tolerance and at least the seeking of understanding prevail, so I can be happy again.

I Watch So You Can Wank: "Couch Surfers: Trans Men In Action" Porn Review
Trannywood Pictures is a San Francisco-based newcomer to the porn scene, and are totally making waves with their hot FtM porn movies. Their first film, "Cubbyholes: Trans Men In Action" came out last year; since people are still discovering it, I'd love to do a review of that movie, too, but wanted to put down my thoughts on their most recent endeavor, "Couch Surfers: Trans Men In Action" first. So, without further ado, click below and let's first meet the guys in the film:

Background Scene During Opening Credits: Mark Van Helsing (trans) and Peter Pleas (non-trans)
Scene Breakdown: The title and credits roll by as Peter leads Mark to the fated couch after which the movie is presumably named and the big bronze art piece of a male torso and rather well-endowed organ that hangs above (and serves as a nice zoom in/zoom out beginning and finish for so many scenes). Peter explores Mark a little bit and rims him while Mark jerks off, then the switch and Mark blows him (again, while enthusiastically jerking off). My Thoughts: The entirety of the scene lasts only a minute and forty seconds, so there's really not that much to be said. While I think it's nice for there to be something playing to focus on during the credits, and to sort of get you hot and ready for what's about to come, it certainly seems like a waste of a good scene (might have been nice to put the full scene on the bonus disc, at least). Ah, well. I guess I'll have to leave it to my imagination.
Scene 1: Lube Boy (trans), Ian Sparks (non-trans), and Ian Foxe (trans)
Scene Breakdown: Lube Boy and Ian Sparks come up to the couch just as Mark and Peter are finishing up; they move off and some hot kissing ensues, only to be interrupted by poor left-out Ian Foxe ("Hey! He's quickly welcomed in, though, and kneels down in front of them, rubbing their cocks first through their clothes, working one in each hand after they pull them out of their pants, and finally sucking them while the boys kiss a little. Also, the scene gets my mixed reviews about leaving in the parts where Ian F. gets himself comfortably situated; on one hand, I'm happy that there's a porn that shows that not everything feels good and is easy and perfect, and makes negotiation betwen partners a key element . . . and then on the other hand, there's my libido screaming "Man, I just started getting into it! C'mon!". So I'm still undecided on that front. But overall, the scene is hot, and I'll say it again- Ian Foxe has one of the most expressive faces I've seen in porn- I could get off just watching an above-the-neck view of him.
Scene 2: Ian Sparks (non-trans) and Brett McCloskey (trans)
Scene Breakdown: On a different couch in another room, Ian and Brett sit side by side and watch one another rub themselves through their towels before pulling them off and alternating between working on one another and watching each other while they play with themselves. Then Ian gets on his knees to suck Brett's trannycock until he comes and they switch roles and Brett gets to do the sucking until Ian declares he'd like to fuck him. My Thoughts: This is the passionate scene- the one where you feel like there's electricity crackling between the guys. As the only one-on-one scene in the movie (besides the opening one), it's also rather special. The guys have a close, fuck-buddy ease between them, an obvious knowledge of their bodies and how to go about pleasing them, and they just work together like clockwork. I don't know; I don't have much to say about this scene other than "It's good.".
Scene 3: Dex Hardlove (trans), Ian Sparks (non-trans), and Brett McCloskey (trans)
Scene Breakdown: This scene picks up with Dex Hardlove coming into the room to see Ian and Brett going at it. He dons some gloves, gets Lube Boy to pump him a few squirts, and approaches the boys with "How do you guys feel about getting some hands in your asses?" (they're all for it!). Brett and Ian stay in their previous position (Brett on top) for a little bit while Dex rubs and inserts a finger or two into each of them, but then they disengage and get on their hands and knees side by side for a more manageable position and Dex starts working on getting both of his hands into their asses while they each jerk off a little at the same time. My Thoughts: The ass-fisting in this scene never gets to sunk-in-to-the-wrists, gaping-loose kind of action you sometimes see in fisting scenes, but I still think it's pretty remarkable how well and quickly Dex gets in there (as well as just a general round of applause for sheer multitasking- fisting takes a lot of careful consideration and skill, so doing it times two is definitely comendable). My biggest complaint would be the positioning that never allows the camera to capture the looks of pleasure on Brett and Ian's (or even really Dex's) faces; that would've made it for me. As it was, I had to get by on the sounds they make (which are hot- particularly when, at a certain point, they both look backwards and sort of tilt their heads together and almost harmonize together in their moaning). The sheer raw pleasure you see in Brett is just enough to get anyone rock hard or dripping wet, I think- the guy holds nothing back. Hot, hot, hot. Just the setup of the scene itself- double ass fisting- warrants a big old kudos.
Scene 4: Dex Hardlove (trans), Ian Foxe (trans), and Brett McCloskey (trans)
Scene Breakdown: The scene continues from where the last left off; Ian scampers off and Dex rubs and lightly finger-fucks Brett a little before instructing Lube Boy to go fetch Ian Foxe, who's hanging all alone on the couch from the first scene, reading a sexy magazine with his hands down his pants. My Thoughts: Yowza! This scene is so hot, writing about it might melt my laptop. It works on so many reasons: Dex is the ultimate top; he is very confident at all moments, even when there are condom difficulties and whatnot. He just exudes command and authority and leads the scene very well, giving it the perfect structure. He can also dirty talk like nobody else (and I'm a stickler for dirty talk . . . I love it, but so few can pull it off). This is by far the loudest scene in the movie and it just makes it. And of course, Brett as the focus of all this hot action just seals the deal. Scene 5: CJ Cockburn (trans), Cupid (trans), and Peter Pleas (non-trans)
Scene Breakdown: The scene opens up on Peter and Cupid fooling around on the couch, kissing and rubbing as CJ plunks himself down next to the twosome and turns it into a threesome. My Thoughts: The guys in this scene are so quiet! Seriously, you can hear a pin drop. But it seems natural to them and I'd rather they be quiet than have bad or fake-sounding dirty talk or sounds. There's a lot of movement in this scene . . . while I liked the switching and turn-taking and new and different positions, part of me wished the boys would just stay put in one place for a while. And the constant fade-to-blacks, like they always do, tend to pull me out of the moment as I scratch my head, wondering "Okay, they were over there. How did they get over here?". But the sex is hot and the scene has a whole lazy, let's-enjoy-each-other feel to it that I really like. And for some reason, even though he wasn't particuarly remarkable (I mean, moreso than any of the other guys), I still find myself crushing on Cupid . . . he's just so dang cute. Also, the face-sitting scene was H-O-T; I rarely see that in porn but it definitely makes me want more.
And so, essentially, that's the movie. Much like "Cubbyholes", it comes with a bonus "First Timer's Guide To Playing With Trans Guys" (which gets so many thumbs up, I wish I had ten hands). There's also a bonus disc featuring a sexy, sexy preview or "taste", if you will, of what their upcoming film "Trannywood Goes Wild" will be like. I won't delve into it here, but let's just say that all the trans boys are lounging around and a little horseplay turns into, just, yumminess.
I'm going to sum up my last thoughts as a list of pros and cons, the things for me that really helped and hurt the movie (in my opinion).
Pros:
* I'm smitten with Brett McCloskey! I have to admit it; I'm not really that crazy about bears or bearish guys- they're just not my main type sexually (though they are cuties that I want to snuggle with). So when Brett came into frame, I felt a little lackluster. Boy, was I wrong! The best way a porn star can win me over is through their attitude and enthusiasm and passion, and Mr. McCloskey has all three in spades. You hear the words "fucking greedy pig" thrown around in a lot of porn, but when Dex calls him that, it's just true. Brett grunts and makes wild animal noises, groans and moans in his deep and twangy Southern drawl, plays with himself while giving a blowjob, and has a true sexual hunger- you can tell that it isn't "Oh, I'll suck this cock because it's porn and I should.", but because it really turns him on. While he's lovely one-on-one with Ian Sparks, Brett positively shines in the threesomes, when Dex Hardlove and later Ian Foxe are brought in. Can I cast my vote for Brett to be the focus of some future delicious gangbang?
Cons:
* Camera angles and set-ups. Although I try to forgive poorer camerawork and cinematography in smaller and more indie porn if the action is real and passionate, some of the movie's choices just seem really bad for the viewer- for example, the double fisting scene was hot, but the entire time I was wishing I could see the expressions on Ian and Brett's faces- something that could easily have been fixed by rearranging them so that they weren't facing the wall. On the other hand, though, the camera-from-above shot used in the last scene absolutely worked for me, and I found it totally increased the hotness.
* Same music. My discerning ear wasn't sure if every piece of music was recycled, but some of it definitely was. Yes, it was good the first time around . . . but nothing new?
Bah Bah Bah Bahhh . . . My Final Decree:
Altogether, I give "Couch Surfers" a hearty 4 1/2 stars, two big thumbs up, and a recommendation for anyone who wants some hot trans porn.

I'm going to sum up my last thoughts as a list of pros and cons, the things for me that really helped and hurt the movie (in my opinion).
Pros:
* I'm smitten with Brett McCloskey! I have to admit it; I'm not really that crazy about bears or bearish guys- they're just not my main type sexually (though they are cuties that I want to snuggle with). So when Brett came into frame, I felt a little lackluster. Boy, was I wrong! * Same music. My discerning ear wasn't sure if every piece of music was recycled, but some of it definitely was. Yes, it was good the first time around . . . but nothing new?

Lately, I've been getting a lot of questions from people asking me about various types of porn that I promote. I've finally decided to put all the information in one place for anyone who wants it. And if you have anything more to add, please leave a comment, since I definitely don't know about every piece of porn out there, and may have missed something really great.So we all know that the kind of porn that we watch doesn't necessarily reflect on our sexual orientations; if anything, the porn collections of most people will attest to that. Everything about it is fake, from the boobs, hair color, tans, and smiles of its stars to the passion and the orgasms of its women. Nothing about it feels or looks like the kind of sex that I have, and because of that, I can't relate to it. it's often got this misogynistic tinge (or outright male chauvinistic message) that doesn't even bother with the pretense of female orgasms, calls women "bitches", "ho's", "sluts" (and not in the good way or in a specific BDSM-related context), and always seems to end with that cliched and standard facial cumshot (ugh). The transmen in the porn I hate don't even exist. In the porn I hate, love, passion, and chemistry are all too rare, eschewed instead for big dicks, big tits, and wall-to-wall gangbang action that tries to make up for what it lacks with the 'quantity over quality' concept.
This list is not about the porn I hate; it's about the porn I love, the opposite of everything I listed above. It's realistic, it's passionate and loving (often with real-life couples), it treats women and sex as beautiful, positive things to be cherished, respected and enjoyed, it features safe sex, and it has real orgasms (my favorite!).
